May 2: Shoppes @ Inlet Grand Opening Celebration: 5 p.m.

Celebrate the Grand Opening of the Shoppes @ Inlet with a champagne toast ceremony and reception from 5-7 p.m. Open to the public, the Grand Opening will offer light bites and refreshments by Shaka Sushi and Noodle Bar, Café Aroma and Cowlick Scoop Shop, live music by Matt Lyons and special offerings within each business. May 2-18: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare at The REP: 7:30 p.m.

A fast-paced and absolutely hilarious ride through 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in only 97 minutes! Three madcap men in tights using a trunk full of props, wigs, and outrageous costumes are on a mission: to bring you the entirety of the works of William Shakespeare in one fell swoop. May 3: Foster Gallery Summer Rotation Artist Reception at Ruskin Place: 5 p.m.

May 4-5: Derby de Mayo Weekend at The Bay in South Walton

The Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo are happening back to back in one glorious weekend and The Bay is all in. First, on Saturday, The Bay will have a “Big Hat Contest” at 5 p.m. – wear your derby best, fanciest hat and join in the fun. Then enjoy the race at 5:50 p.m. On Sunday, don your sombrero and come grab tacos and margaritas on the beach. The Bay chefs will roast a whole pig and serve up pineapple port tacos fresh on the spot. Live music will be playing all day beginning at 2 p.m.

Children’s Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) will host the Smile Mile and 5K race on May 11, presented by St. Joe Community Foundation. The race starts and ends at WaterColor Marina Park. May 11-12: ArtsQuest – A Festival of Fine Art & Fine Craft: 10:00 a.m.

In its 31st year, ArtsQuest: A Fine Arts & Fine Craft Festival takes place in the Town Center of Grand Boulevard at Sandestin each Mother’s Day weekend. Produced by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, ArtsQuest provides an opportunity to view and purchase original art from over 150 artists from around the country while also experiencing live musical entertainment, ImagiNation (where kids rule), student exhibits and great food & beverage options in the Town Center of Grand Boulevard at Sandestin. ArtsQuest is a juried show that includes artists in multiple categories. ArtsQuest awards $10,000 in cash prizes and is a rain or shine event.
