Golf Courses in South Walton

July 3, 2017

Golf Courses

South Walton offers visitors an abundance of championship golf on courses designed by renowned course architects such as Rees Jones, Robert Trent Jones Jr., Tom Fazio, and Tom Jackson.

Listed below are South Walton’s golf courses with links to their websites and contact information.

Baytowne Golf Club

Phone: (850) 267-8155
Email: golf@sandestin.com

Baytowne Golf Club, a premier choice among the extensive offerings of golf courses in Northwest Florida, now brings a fresh face to its familiar layout. Expansively renovated in the summer of 2005 by original course architect Tom Jackson, this Florida golf course, twice hailed by Golf Digest's Places to Play with 4 ½ Stars, is now even more exciting.

With a routing that takes guests from the beach to the bay, and boasts some of the only elevation change in the area, Baytowne Golf Club is as forgiving from the forward tees as it is challenging from the championship ones. The addition of a fifth set of junior tees makes this golf course a great place for beginners to learn the game, or pick up the pace for an afternoon executive round.

Burnt Pine Golf Club

Phone: (850) 267-6500

Burnt Pine Golf Club is a golf experience unrivaled on Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast. Course architect Rees Jones proves in this 7000-yard layout why he is one of the most respected architects in the world. Burnt Pine’s rolling fairways and strategically placed bunkers invite golfers to outduel the course by using a different approach to every hole.

Breathtaking views along the Choctawhatchee Bay highlight the back nine, while the front side brings golfers through the pine forests and wetlands of the Emerald Coast. Side by side with Sandestin’s Raven Golf Club, it is the only place in the world where Rees and Robert Trent Jones Jr. courses meet.

Camp Creek Golf Club

Phone: (850) 231-7600
It's been said that Tom Fazio's courses "look hard but play easy." For the three years Golf Digest polled golf course architects to name the "Best Modern Day Golf Course Architect," Fazio's peers chose him. Also highly regarded by the American Association of Golf Course Superintendents, he is one of only three architects to receive their highly cherished "Old Tom Morris Award."

Known for building courses that appeal to all levels of player-skills, Fazio is also acclaimed for consulting with nature to bring out the best attributes of a site. He takes pride in the way his designs respond to the challenges and gifts each location presents. That is especially true at Camp Creek, where Fazio has shaped a 7,151-yard, par-72 course with a significant wetland system that he has used to accent the golf experience.

The Links of Sandestin

Phone: (850) 267-8144
Email: golf@sandestin.com

The Links Course at Sandestin is the ultimate in risk reward golf.  A shot-maker's course, accuracy and proper club selection are a must if you want to outfox the prevailing Gulf Coast winds and enjoy the most spectacular views in South Walton.

Renowned architect Tom Jackson designed this winding layout against the backdrop of the Baytowne Marina and the Choctawhatchee Bay on the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. With five holes that run along the bay, guests are treated to a links-style golf outing like no other on the Emerald Coast.

Origins Golf Club

Phone: (850) 641-0007

The Origins Course is a six-hole regulation course that alternatively plays as a nine-hole executive course and a ten-hole par 3 layout through the use of alternate tee boxes and auxiliary greens. It was designed and built with the “short course” concept at its core. The mission: make golf more fun, accessible and attractive to families, beginners and casual golfers.

Via its non-penal design and manageable distance (approximately 1,800 yards) the Origins Course both appeals and caters to novices. Yet its regulation-length holes and greens dimensions provide enough challenge and strategy to retain the interest of avid and experienced players. The course was designed by Love Golf Design, founded by PGA Tour player and PGA Champion Davis Love III.

Raven Golf Club

Phone: (850) 267-8211
Email: golf@sandestin.com

Raven Golf Club, home in 2006 and 2007 to the Boeing Championship – a stop on the PGA Champions Tour – is masterfully carved through the marshes and pine trees of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in South Walton.

Robert Trent Jones Jr. crafted this unique and visually stunning 6,900-yard par 71 into what he calls "a true modern traditional." Voted "Best New Course in Florida in 2000" by Florida Golf News, the Raven Golf Club is a natural wonder that presents drama and strategy on every tee.

While the 750 acre setting is breathtaking, what makes Windswept Dunes truly remarkable is the tranquility.  Although Windswept Dunes is just 30 minutes from South Walton’s beaches, there are no crowds, no hustle and bustle at all, making it an easy to relax and focus on your game.
