Basmati’s, A Restaurant On A Roll

At Basmati’s, the Far East meets South Walton beaches…in a sushi roll, and it’s a beautiful thing.

Basmati’s, is a quaint but sophisticated restaurant, tucked away in Santa Rosa Beach on Highway 30A. This long-time local’s favorite blends the exotic flavors of traditional Asian cuisine with area-inspired ingredients to create distinctive dishes, from starters to desserts.

The sushi selection features a dozen or so nigri options, but the maki-style offerings are where the Gulf Coast influences can be found. The popular Florida roll features local blue crab, avocado and cucumber with masago, while the truffled tuna roll offers fresh ahi, doused in decadent white-truffle oil, with locally grown sprouts and fresh black pepper.

But the roll that really rocks is the Dorothy, We Are Not At WaterColor Anymore, which includes plump shrimp, sprouts, crisp carrots and a tangy ginger vinaigrette with fresh thyme.

Other menu items, including crab cakes, the firecracker grouper and the surf and turf offering, feature Basmati’s approach to culturally diverse cuisine. These items, as well as many others, are best enjoyed on the restaurants airy, peaceful dining porch.
