CVHN SMILE Run & 5K

CVHN Smile Mile & 5K in WaterColor

May 11, 2019

Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) will host the Smile Mile and 5K race on May 11th, 2019, presented by St. Joe Community Foundation. The race starts and ends at Watercolor Marina Park located in Santa Rosa Beach.

The CVHN signature event is fun-for-all ages and will help raise funds that will directly affect the health and well-being of kids in Walton and Okaloosa Counties. With over 20 percent of children in both counties living at poverty levels, CVHN provides for children who otherwise would have nowhere to turn for medical, dental and vision care.

Unusual for races in South Walton, the CVHN race is a stroller-friendly event; a measure to encourage family participation.

5K participants will start at 7:30 AM and head east on Western Lake running through the beautiful tree canopies of WaterColor and looping back by Frog Pool Pond back to Marina Park. The Smile Mile is also known as the 'Fastest Mile on 30A' and starts at 8:15 AM. "We call it the Fastest Mile on 30A because we want it to be a competitive run, and a fun run; A short distance to sprint among stellar Watercolor scenery," says Gavigan.

After the race, participants will enjoy music, food, and awards. Prizes will be given for fastest runners in age groups and a grand prize will be awarded for the largest registered team and the most fundraised team.

Aside from being family friendly, the race is also budget friendly. 5K participation fee is only $30, and the Smile Mile is $15 until April 1st. With t-shirts to commemorate the event, this discounted price for participation is available for a limited time. Fees will increase April 1st. After April 1st, fees will increase to $35 for adults & $20 for kids 18 and under.

Registration is now open at www.cvhnkids.org.

All proceeds from the event go to CVHN, which has facilitated over 90,000 free procedures valuing at just over $6.5 million dollars for kids in Walton and Okaloosa Counties to sustain the CVHN mission for their three two major programs: the CVHN Dental Clinic located in Santa Rosa Beach and a Mobile Dental Clinic that visits elementary schools and local charities.
