A Weekend in South Walton: Inlet Beach, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seacrest
With new flights added all the time, and easy access by car from much of the South, it's easy to find yourself in South Walton for the weekend. With so much to do and a limited time to do it, we've put together a sample itinerary for making the most out of a short trip.
6pm on Friday: Make your first stop dinner at Amici 30a Italian Kitchen in Inlet Beach, where pizza, cocktails and small plates provide a warm welcome. With an open kitchen and a relaxed atmosphere, your first meal in town will show you just how high your expectations should be for the trip.
9pm on Friday: Celebrate your arrival in style with cocktails at the Havana Beach Rooftop Lounge. Atop The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach, this stylish venue serves up classic cocktails with a view of the Gulf that shouldn't be missed.
First thing on Saturday: Take a walk on the beach. This is why you're here, right? Dig your toes into the sand and watch the sunrise over the turquoise water. There's nothing more magical.
9am on Saturday: Grab your morning fuel at The Donut Hole in Inlet Beach, a local institution that has an extensive breakfast menu in addition to the namesake donuts and fantastic pie.
Beach Interlude: Head back to the beach and toss out a towel. Catch some rays and digest those donuts while mentally planning your next trip back.
Noon on Saturday: Dine outdoors at George's at Alys Beach – with a deck and screened porches, George's cooks up refined meals (you can choose either the "misbehave" or "behave" side of the menu) with great local seafood and produce. Located in striking Alys Beach, you won't find another place like this on earth.
After lunch, stroll through Rosemary Beach's art galleries – South Walton is known for having a world-class art scene with a laidback atmosphere. Tommy Crow Studios showcases large-format fine art photography, while Sea Contemporary Art Space features multidisciplinary work by national and international artists that blurs the lines between art and design.
6pm on Saturday: Pop in to Edward's Fine Food & Wine for a bistro feel, with classic gourmet fare and a relaxed environment. Sip wine in the courtyard and enjoy the breeze as you while away your Saturday night.
First thing on Sunday: For breakfast, grab Charlie's Donuts, then head right next door to Peddler’s 30A and rent a bike. Pedaling around is one of the best ways to see South Walton, plus it'll get you to your next destination quickly so you can start shopping.
Shopping at 30Avenue: A relaxed coastal feel meets sophisticated shopping, with the latest fashions, home furnishings and even gourmet ingredients available for your perusal.
Noon on Sunday: Ride back to Rosemary Beach for lunch at Cowgirl Kitchen Restaurant & Bar, where you can saddle up and enjoy a casual, fun meal – they serve everything from tacos to pizza. Fill up and take in the beach scenery before heading back to reality.
